Artist statement

In my work I merge iconography of the past with commercial products of the present this creates a hybridity of nostalgia existent imagery. By using trendy products of the present I bring the past to the present and by doing his I feel I have brought something back to life.

When people see my work I would want them to recognize the reivention fo the images and to feel a sense of nostalgia, and youth. I believe that the reinvention of oneself is often necessary to keep up with the present, especially as an Artist. Everything in the world is constantly being reinvented, from products to people. In the future the appearance of the people will be a simulacrum of what they once were, resulting in not only fake products, but also a fake population.

This series of work is a collage of imagery containing layers of thoughts and ideas. What I find most interesting about the creative process is the investigating of my concept. While brainstorming I sketch and use as many resources as I can find to analyze different angles of my theme. Once I have the vision of my idea, I begin to create. As the images begin to take shape, I feel an intense, anxious excitement. When the work is complete, and I am pleased with the results, I feel very satisfied. Once again feel that pleasant anxious excitement. Only this time it is different, it is now an excitement to start my next painting.
